42nd Intelligent Sensing Programme – Internet of Things
The 42nd ISP event aims to bring Sensor & Instrumentation academics and industrial partners in the area of IoT together in an exciting day of talks, technology demonstrations and networking. This will include keynote talks from major UK companies, funders and winners of the ‘Internet of Sensors’ feasibility competition.
Sensor devices are everywhere, and will play and increasingly important part in the Internet of Things revolution – indeed, a recent estimate predicts that by 2020 sensors will account for over 60 % of the total installed base of the 30 billion devices in the ‘Internet of Things’.
This event aims to cover various aspects of this:
Connectivity – how are sensor devices integrated together
Energy Harvesting – how can devices be powered
Creating actionable intelligence – how can the integration of multiple devices provide actionable intelligence to provide information greater than the sum of the individual parts

The ISP events have been the highlight of the Sensors & Instrumentation calendar since the start of the Knowledge Transfer Networks in 2006 and the Faraday Partnerships which preceded them. The core strength of the ISP events is that they aim to showcase new sensing technologies irrespective of their core target markets. This focus on exciting, novel technologies and their applications sits firmly with the Knowledge Transfer Networks aim of encouraging interactions, which otherwise would not happen.
