From smart lightbulbs to driverless cars, the Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionising the way we go about our daily lives, and is seen as one of the technologies underpinning the ‘fourth industrial revolution.’

By connecting previously ‘dumb’ devices, the IoT looks set to deliver significant benefits to our society and economy. Through the smart use of data, it could drive better health services, cleaner and safer societies, more efficient industries as well as stimulating new business growth. However, as a relatively immature market, there are also big concerns about the security of IoT devices and infrastructure, as well as whether we have the right skills both now and in the future to drive the benefits that it could deliver for the UK.

In order for IoT to deliver its full potential we will need to address these concerns. This event aims to explore solutions to the security, skills and privacy challenges facing IoT, as well as discussing the likely opportunities for businesses and individuals.
