The UK’s Connected Future: 5G Deployment, Next Gen Mobile Networks and Future Applications

Following the publication of the Government’s 5G Strategy, and taking place six months on from the release of the National Infrastructure Commission Report Connected Future this event will bring together delegates representing central and local government, infrastructure, TMT, as well as consumers to examine the challenges and opportunities of 5G deployment and future mobile communications.
Mobile, Wireless, Rapid and Reliable – Next Gen Mobile Connectivity and 5G Deployment:
With the Government committing £740 million of investment to the development of 5G technology delegates will discuss and debate the priorities for research and development in next generation mobile networks; the challenges and opportunities for spectrum allocation; and the role of Government, regulators and industry in developing a future-proof strategy for digital infrastructure policy and investment.
Discussion will also focus on infrastructure requirements and future proofing new projects, as well as the role of Government in backing schemes and acting as a digital champion to the potential of 5G.
From Not Spots to Hot Spots – Delivering Meaningful Wireless Coverage for the UK:
With 35% of consumers unable to access 3G delegates will examine whether policy should prioritise the delivery of a minimum standard of 3G mobile connectivity over 5G deployment and the role of community and niche provider solutions to deliver connectivity to areas poorly served by national players.
Sessions will focus on the challenges and opportunities of delivering a Universal Service Obligation for mobile and a national roaming strategy for infrastructure sharing. Time will also be dedicated to analysing priorities for developing meaningful metrics to measure the real service and coverage received by consumers.
Unlocking Our Connected Future – From Theory to Practical Applications:
With consumer and industry demand for mobile data ever increasing attendees will examine how next generation mobile connectivity can be implemented to unlock the economic and societal opportunities of a connected country across road, rail and in our cities and analyse the potential of 5G to underpin new advances in the UK’s digital economy.
