In recent years the use of social media has provided responses to natural disasters at speeds previously unseen. As events such as Japan and Haiti have shown, twitter has provided a unique platform to connect people and influence in ways which a short time ago were thought to be impossible. In Twitter for Good, Claire, Twitter’s Head of Corporate Social Innovation, shares her strategy to launching cause-based campaigns filled with dynamic examples from initiatives around the world, a topic she will be covering at the #SMWF event.
With more than 200 million users across the world, Twitter has established itself in the social media arena as a powerful force charities must understand to use effectively. The real time nature of the site allows for a fast way of raising funds. Tweetsgiving, a Twitter base initiative raised just over $10,000 in 48 hours as well as many celebrities using the platform to initiate fundraising efforts.
Claire will be joined by a number of social media innovators from leading international business and charities at SMWF Asia on 1-2 September in the Suntec Centre, Singapore. For more information and to register your place at the event visit www.socialmedia-forum.com/asia/.
